Children’s Message: Our Story
John 1:29-42
1/18/2026

Today we’re going on a little field trip—right here inside the church.
We’re going to visit three special places that help us grow in God’s family.
And at each place, Jesus says to us, “Come and See.”
As we walk together, let’s look closely, notice what’s happening, and say a few things out loud together.
1. Come and See… the Baptismal Font
(Invite the children to walk with you to the baptismal font. Let them gather close.)
Look at this water.
This is where people are baptized—babies, kids, grown‑ups, all kinds of people.
When someone is baptized, God says:
“You are my beloved.”
Let’s say that together:
“You are my beloved.”
And that promise is for everyone:
No matter how long we’ve been in church
No matter how many Bible stories we know
No matter what our families look like
When we see someone baptized, we’re learning what God’s love looks like.
2. Come and See… the Lord’s Table
(Invite the children to walk with you to the Communion table.)
Look at this table.
This is where we taste what God’s kingdom is like—where everyone has a place.
Jesus says:
“You will do what I do.”
Let’s say that together:
“You will do what I do.”
And that welcome is for everyone:
No matter if we’re shy or outgoing
No matter if we’ve had easy days or hard days
No matter who we sit next to
When we gather at this table, we’re learning how to welcome others like Jesus.
3. Come and See… the Podium (or Pulpit)
(Invite the children to walk with you to the pulpit.)
Look up here.
This is where God’s good news is spoken out loud—where the Bible comes alive.
The Holy Spirit promises:
“I will teach you what to say.”
Let’s say that together:
“I will teach you what to say.”
And that promise is for everyone:
Whether we know lots of verses
Whether we’re still learning
Whether we understand everything or not
When we listen here, we’re learning how God speaks to us and through us.
Before We Pray…
Even in church,
we might wonder what should happen first or what matters most.
But the truth is:
each of us gets to know God in different ways, at different times.
Some Sundays,
the Word of God speaks right to our hearts.
Some Sundays,
a baptism makes the whole day unforgettable.
Some Sundays,
simply coming forward for Communion is enough to remind us
that Jesus loves us.
All of these moments help us grow in God’s family.
And all of these moments become our story to tell and share.
Repeat‑After‑Me Prayer
I’ll say a line, and you repeat it back.
Dear God,
(children repeat)
Thank you for this church.
(children repeat)
Thank you for the Font,
(children repeat)
the Table,
(children repeat)
and the Word we hear.
(children repeat)
Help us come and see
(children repeat)
your love,
(children repeat)
your welcome,
(children repeat)
and your good news.
(children repeat)
Help us grow in your family,
(children repeat)
and share our story.
(children repeat)
Amen.
