Devotion Questions & Prayer

The 3rd Week of Easter, Year A

Scriptures: Psalm 116:1-4, 12-19; Luke 24:13-35; Acts 2:14a, 36-41; 1 Peter 1:17-23.

Key verse: “Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight.” (Luke 24:31)

Questions to ponder:

1. What are some words that people use to label you in the current diverse world we live in? How do those terms change the way you see yourself?

2. What terms do you use to introduce yourself to others? What is it important for you to emphasize? Biblically speaking, what does God expect us to be known for by others?

3. How do those two ways of being made known to others help you build self-esteem and self-respect, being labeled by others and being self-identified?

Prayer: God of confidence and mighty, each day, we give thanks to you for creating us according to your likeness, humbly stand in awe of your forgiveness, and praise you for Jesus Christ who lived among us, walked alongside us, and restored us to be your likeness. May you continue shaping our ways of making ourselves known to the world so that we may love one another deeply from our hearts through genuine mutual love to glorify you. Amen.
