Children’s Message: It’s Not About Size But Purpose

Dear Beloved Children,

I want to share a little story between two seeds: Mr. Mustard and Miss Avocado.

Mr. Mustard: I asked Jesus if He could make me bigger, at least as big as you!

Miss Avocado: Why do you want to be big like me?

Mr. Mustard: Because then I could grow tall and wide. I could give shade to people on hot days. Birds could build their nests in my branches!

Miss Avocado: That sounds lovely. So… what did Jesus say?

Mr. Mustard: He told me it’s not about being big. It’s about trusting God who made me with a special purpose. Even though I’m small, I can still do amazing things.

Miss Avocado: How do you feel about that?

Mr. Mustard: I’m still learning. But I know Jesus is always right. I just need to trust God.

In Luke 17:6, Jesus says that even faith as small as a mustard seed can do big things, like telling a tree to jump into the sea!

Sometimes we might feel small, like Mr. Mustard. We might wonder if we’re big enough, strong enough, or important enough. But God reminds us: It’s not about size. It’s about purpose.

God made each of us with a special job to do. Your purpose might be different from mine, and different from your friends’. But the good news is: we all share the gift of faith. And when we trust God, even the tiniest seed can grow into something wonderful.

Just like in this picture: A mustard seed becomes a tree strong enough for birds to nest, tall enough to hold a swing, and wide enough to give shade on a hot summer day.
